»Slow, Deep And Hard« erschien ursprünglich am 11. Juni 1991 bei Roadrunner Records. Aufgenommen hatte die US-Metal-Band das Album jedoch bereits 1989. 1990 folgte die Erstveröffentlichung unter dem Titel »None More Negative«. Die Band hieß damals noch »Repulsion«. »Slow, Deep and Hard« umfasst sieben Tracks, aufgenommen im Systems Two Studio in New York von Peter Steele (Gesang, Bass), Kenny Hickey (Gitarre, Backgroundgesang), Josh Silver (Keyboard, Backgroundgesang) und Sal Abruscato (Schlagzeug). Es ist ein dunkelhumoriges, semi-autobiografisches Album. Der Sound ist eine Mischung aus Dark Rock und Alternative Metal mit aggressiven Rhythmen und Grabesgesängen. Als Single erschien der Song »Unsuccessfully Coping With The Natural Beauty Of Infidelity«.
